How are Famous People Good Learners?

How are Famous People Good Learners?
Capture Famous.PNG
WAL how to stretch our IMITATION learning muscle.

  • Choose a famous person.
  • Agnetha Fältskog.
  • How is your person a role model for learning?
  • Teaches her group members strategies to become better singers and to appear on stage properly with a smile and always have a strong powerful voice.
  • What learning muscles do you think they are they strongest at? Why? Perseverance. Because they have enough courage to get up on stage and sing in front of big crowds. Imitation. Because they would have had to learn off each other to make the concert more exciting. Imaging. Agnetha sometimes wrote her own songs so she would have to put her thinking cap on.
  • What beliefs, values, attitudes and behaviour helped them to achieve?
  • It would be hard to sing with a group of strangers and you would have to argue lots to make things possible. They had to learn different languages to perform in different countries.

  • Create a poster (can be digital) of your famous person with all of the above.

Autumn

My Autumn
Everything has  changed, it's colder in the mornings, and we can’t go swimming anymore because of the temperature. I wear warmer clothes like thermals and jackets and I get the flu more often. I walk down the road to school each morning shuffling the leaves with my feet, red, orange, yellow, green, and brown, crunchy and soft. You look up at the trees and you see hardly any leaves because it's autumn. We don’t go outside, at home I now read be the fireplace wrapped up in long johns, it's my afternoon duty. I miss summer so much when we could do so much more. It's darker at night so we have to go to bed earlier I just read like normal. If I think it's cold now, well it's not even winter yet! Autumn is a strange thing, how do the leaves know when to fall and why does it get so cold?

Snow White and Blueberry

A few Fridays ago I woke up and pulled the Budgies blanket off their cage.  I went inside to fold the blanket but when I came back I found Blueberry (my budgie) dead on the floor of the cage with Snow White (my other Budgie) nudging him with her head. I ran and told mum and she came to see and I started to cry because it was so sad I couldn't believe what I was looking at, he was dead and gone forever! Then it was like a bullet plunging through my heart and then I remembered all the happy moments that I spent with Blueberry and started to cry even more. "You are running late for ELIM" said mum "Hurry up, we can look after him later.
After ELIM I ran to my bedroom with my bag still on my back and unlocked the cage and put Blueberry in a pretty box and ran outside and grabbed the spade and started digging and digging and digging until the hole was perfect! I called my mum and dad to come to the mini funereal and we stood there with our eyes closed for a second then a minute and then we opened our eyes and said goodbye. Dad helped me put all the dirt on top again and then put his grave ordainment s on his grave.

Cyclone cook

Cyclone Cook
Staying at my Aunty’s house or the night we didn't know what we were in for...at 8.00 pm there was an awful storm formed, from a light wind to a heavy cyclone cook that made her fence wiggle like a worm. The fence got worse be the minute. “Stay here” she said “While I go and fix the fence”.
I stayed there for a few minutes and then she came inside and said that she had fixed the fence. She sat down and put her feet up, “Oh I missed Mrs Brown Boys!”

“It’s okay” I said to her to cheer her up. We continued watching the television and then we heard a  “Tip,tap, tip, tap” it was the leftover rain collecting it on her wheelbarrow. She swapped it with a plastic bucket, then turned out the lights and went to bed.

Wellington

As we come out of Victoria tunnel to Wellington, it was rush hour and everybody was coming home from my future destination. Suddenly l started to see people and then l started to see more and more. I could smell the fumes, I could hear the chatter and my palms were heating up as if they were in a electric hand dryer because I was so nervous. I opened up the glove box and pulled out an old map and carefully unfolded it making sure it wouldn’t rip, on the map it had lots of different complicated places that were hard to pronounce but the street that caught my eye was Cuba street,  it was a long one-way street with lots of fancy shops. I wound down the window for fresh air and looked up and saw electric cables connecting to the tall buildings that looked like they reached up to space. Then we suddenly stopped we were in a  traffic-jam, it was dinnertime and everybody was going out to get their dinner from Mcdonald's and other junk food stuff. When we were out of the traffic-jam we whizzed passed Te Papa museum, I turned the radio on and in an instant I heard the nice sound of music. We started winding up a steep hill and turning sharp edged corners it felt like I was in a roller coater. Finally we reached the top of the hill and walked up some stairs and made it up to Victoria lookout  and saw the view of Wellington, it was amazing. As I was walking down the stairs and had one final look at the view and murmured goodbye. Through the busy traffic to the hotel, I never in a thousand years want to leave Wellington.

Save our streams and rivers!

To the editor,
Our streams and rivers are being polluted everyday.

Rivers are important because animals like fish, eels and ducks live in them. They will get polluted because people dump rubbish in rivers and when people cut down trees, they land in rivers and block the river from flowing.

Nobody likes drinking dirty water made out of dirt or sewage or eating fish that make them sick.

Cows are escaping from farms and cows are leaving their manure behind. Because of this people are telling farmers to build fences but the farmers are replying that they don’t have enough money to build fences.

Lots of people like doing swimming sports in stream and rivers and they won’t be able to do that anymore because the rivers are dirty. We should raise money to make a river cleaning club and check if the rivers are cleared every week.

Hawkes Bay fires

WALT make connections across several texts
Before reading
Think back to last week’s Hawke’s Bay fires. What do you remember?
Mr M’s example:
I first heard about the fire in the staff meeting. As I left work later that day, something seemed different in the air. As I got home I could smell the fire. It was closer and bigger than I realised. Then I started to hear more and more about it.  I always look at those fire danger signs and now I was reminded how real the danger is.

My connection: (where you were and what you saw or heard about it)
The first thing I knew that there was a fire because I heard sirens which were really really  loud. And then we looked out the car window  and we saw two fire trucks. We followed the fire trucks and then lost them.

First reading
Read the article and discuss the pictures with a buddy. Paste your favourite picture from the article of the fire’s impact below. Describe what the photo shows in your own words.
The photo shows... The burnt hills from the fire that happened on Monday.

Second reading

We need to understand the words to make connections. Find the meanings of these three words from the title:
Word
Meaning (in your own words - not copy paste)
generosity
Generosity, means that you do something kind for somebody else.
gratitude
Gratitude means that you are thankful for something somebody has done for you.
grief
Greif means you worry and care about something that you like.

Describe what happens to these people during the fire.
Person
What happened (in your own words - not copy paste)
Doug Lowe
Doug Lowe dialed 111 when the Waimarama fire happened. He said that he could see the smoke going through the trees surrounding them. The fire trucks came when the wind picked up.
Ali McEwan
Ali McEwan had escaped with her three kids on Waimarama road on Monday. She said it was a miracle that the fire trucks saved her house.
Guy Gemmill
Guy Gemmill’s house was now a pile of broken glass, scorched wood and charred roof he had lost his home. He had no clothes except the ones he was wearing and he had lost everything.

After reading
Why do you think firefighters are so important?
Firefighters are important because they put out fires so that everything won’t be destroyed. They also save the planet from firebombs.

Thank you letter

                                                                                           To, Sandy
Thank you for helping me get my clothes ready for when we went for bush walks, and helping me butter my toast. Also doing the washing, or we wouldn’t have clean clothes the next day.

I really appreciated you helping us with the amazing race when it took forever to shoot a goal and you gave us advice when we
 didn’t get a goal.
IMG_20170309_113659.jpgOnce again, thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Waka Writing

Waka Writing
I drew a big heart in the middle, with my Family as koru inside.
My Dad is the blue koru, my Mum is the pink koru, I am the red koru, my sister Lily is the purple koru, my other sister Eliana is the gold koru, and lastly my little brother Rico is the green koru.
The sideways K is a karate belt with three tips, because I am on white belt three tips.
I like Cats and they are my second best favourite animal.
Also I drew a bird in a tree because I like birds and I have two pet Budgies a white one called Snow White and a blue Budgie called Blueberry.
Since I love rollerblading so I drew some roller blades on the top left corner.
I did some footprints because I love animals.
My family is originally from China so I drew the Chinese flag with five yellow stars and a red background.

Ceagle-Christina

Introduction

Ceagles are half Cat and half Eagle, they are rare in some countries.
They are endangered species and they need protection, that's why they are mostly seen at zoos or as pets.
Their scientific name is Ceaglerific Birdicat Catiwatt.
This picture was taken 50 years ago because they are hard to tame and almost impossible to keep still.

Diet / What it eats
A Ceagle will eat... Worms, cat food and small land animals like for example Mice and rats, it also eats Giant African snails too. Did you know that one  Giant African snail can feed a family of eight for one whole month!
lt drinks water like all animals that live on land. It is also known to steal from bakeries and cafes nearby too but it will not eat fish.

Habitat / Where it lives
Ceagles can live in the wild, and they can also live in busy towns and cities that have a lot of space to jump around in.
They can live in other people's houses as pets and they can be found in zoos too.
Ceagles are mostly found in hot countries like Africa, Egypt or maybe in really hot places in Australia too.
Ceagles can not climb trees, but they can swim which comes in handy round the corner!
Description  / What  it looks like
Ceagles can be any colours that cats can be but they will always have an Eagle’s head.
Ceagles will be about 50 centimeters tall and their average weight will be 10 pounds.

Interesting facts
Did you know that Ceagles can be so loud that they can make you die?
One day a man was looking for a Ceagle at the pet shop and then a Ceagle just bounced out and scared him and he never looked for a pet again.  Eagles can have 100 babies a year, only if they are very determined and want to attend to that many babies!
Ceagles are known to frighten people that are scared of them because they can sense if they are scared of them and they will show off to them and they will think that you are frightened of them and that's how they know.
Ceagles like loud noises of traffic or siriens.
The first Ceagle ever found was in Egypt, it was a Ceagle called Ma na and he was very tame until a lady found her and became famous. She died in 1985 and Ma na was looked after by a petting zoo and she died 9 years later and that's how Ceagles became.
The heaviest Ceagle was found in New Zealand called Lark who weighed 40 pounds! He died in 2013 of cancer.
The tallest Ceagle ever found was Lily the Ceagle who was from England and she grew 70 cm tall and weighed 10 pounds like an average Ceagle will weigh.
Ceagles can only see yellow, blue, black, white and grey because lighter colours scare the Ceagle and the Ceagle goes CRAZY!
Did you know that Male Ceagles are calmer than the Female Eagles.

Behaviour
Ceagles are very mischievous and they are cheeky too, they like to go on top of things and have rests.
Ceagles like being up high on high things, they like to sleep and pruonce on things.

Conclusion
Now that I have explained about the Ceagle I hope you remember if you see one please keep away from it if it’s not calm.
If you want to see a Ceagle you can see them in zoos or if you live in a hot country and you live close to a zoo you are highly likely to see one.

Start your story here:
10.00 clock in the morning, summertime my family and I were tramping in the bush. The sun was shining really bright that it hurt my eyes.
Suddenly  I found some paw prints that were very huge they looked like a cat’s pawprints but they were like, five times bigger, so I followed them.

Half an hour later my family left me behind all lost in the bush by myself would I survive?
Suddenly the pawprints stopped they ended at a big tree and there were scratch marks going up to the top of the tree, so I began to climb it wasn’t easy to climb though.
There sitting on the top branch was... a white tiger, my eyes were almost gonna pop out.
I thought white tigers were extinct I tried to be quiet,  until it saw me,it’s face was covered in scars.
Slowly I climbed down from the tree, it followed me and rubbed against my legs when I reached bottom, it bent  down and purred it was like he was telling me to jump on him, so I did,  and he started to walk into the bushes.
He took me to an old shed he gathered some leaves for me to sleep in, and he fell asleep in another bigger pile of leaves, after a while I fell asleep too.
When I woke up he was there with a piece of raw deer in his mouth he wanted me to eat it but I saved it for something special.

After that we went for a little ride in the bushes we went to a river that had a waterfall and he went behind it, behind the waterfall was a whole pride of white tigers, big ones small ones. Soon I started to realize that white tigers aren’t that scary after all. After spending time behind the waterfall we walked back to the old shed again I still had the piece of meat left from lunch.

Then he went hunting again, and when he came back he had another deer in his mouth and I started a fire and cooked the meat.
After that we went to bed.
In the morning it was time to go back to the waterfall to see the family of tigers again. When we came back to the shed we and had a big rest.

A month later my family came back and I had to hide the tigers so I said goodbye and went to go find my family.
A few weeks later we went back to the bush this time I packed a first aid kit and some lunch that will last  for a week.

Slowly I creeped away from my family to spend  one more week with the white tigers again.
I kept the secret all to myself and never ever told anyone not even my best friend, about the whole pride of beautiful White Tigers that I saw with my very own eyes.
THE END!
