Thank you letter for HBHS Pacifica and Kapa haka groups

To HBHS Pacifica and Kapa Haka groups,

Thank you for coming to Parkvale School and performing to our school, I think that everybody enjoyed your visit. I thought you were showing lots of PRIDE when you were performing, you also made us laugh because you showed lots of humour.

I liked the poi in the Kapa Haka group because it was very synchronized even when lots of people were looking at you, and thinking what an amazing group.
The Pacifica was great because they had strong voices and they had lots of humour.

Thank you again for entertaining us.

The Bush

The bush

Threats to the bush
There are a lot of threats to the bush and here are two of them. The first ones are possums who eat native animals. And then there is fire which also is a threat because lots of things can start a fire like long grass.

What is The Bush?
The bush is a place where everything runs wild and it is a place where animals live.
The bush is a place where plant overgrow.

Why is the bush important to us?
The bush is important because it gives us oxygen and birds live in them as homes.

Autumn

My Autumn
Everything has  changed, it's colder in the mornings, and we can’t go swimming anymore because of the temperature. I wear warmer clothes like thermals and jackets and I get the flu more often. I walk down the road to school each morning shuffling the leaves with my feet, red, orange, yellow, green, and brown, crunchy and soft. You look up at the trees and you see hardly any leaves because it's autumn. We don’t go outside, at home I now read be the fireplace wrapped up in long johns, it's my afternoon duty. I miss summer so much when we could do so much more. It's darker at night so we have to go to bed earlier I just read like normal. If I think it's cold now, well it's not even winter yet! Autumn is a strange thing, how do the leaves know when to fall and why does it get so cold?

Maths

Maths Reflection

Maths Perimeter and Area.JPG

What I enjoyed… I enjoyed making perimeters and marking out the area.

What I found difficult… The thing I found the most difficult was multiplying fractions because I didn't really get it so I need to practice more.

What I learnt… I learnt that you can make 140 in lots of different ways. (e.g) 70m and 50m

What I still need to learn or practice… Definitely multiplying fractions.

Snow White and Blueberry

A few Fridays ago I woke up and pulled the Budgies blanket off their cage.  I went inside to fold the blanket but when I came back I found Blueberry (my budgie) dead on the floor of the cage with Snow White (my other Budgie) nudging him with her head. I ran and told mum and she came to see and I started to cry because it was so sad I couldn't believe what I was looking at, he was dead and gone forever! Then it was like a bullet plunging through my heart and then I remembered all the happy moments that I spent with Blueberry and started to cry even more. "You are running late for ELIM" said mum "Hurry up, we can look after him later.
After ELIM I ran to my bedroom with my bag still on my back and unlocked the cage and put Blueberry in a pretty box and ran outside and grabbed the spade and started digging and digging and digging until the hole was perfect! I called my mum and dad to come to the mini funereal and we stood there with our eyes closed for a second then a minute and then we opened our eyes and said goodbye. Dad helped me put all the dirt on top again and then put his grave ordainment s on his grave.

Cyclone cook

Cyclone Cook
Staying at my Aunty’s house or the night we didn't know what we were in for...at 8.00 pm there was an awful storm formed, from a light wind to a heavy cyclone cook that made her fence wiggle like a worm. The fence got worse be the minute. “Stay here” she said “While I go and fix the fence”.
I stayed there for a few minutes and then she came inside and said that she had fixed the fence. She sat down and put her feet up, “Oh I missed Mrs Brown Boys!”

“It’s okay” I said to her to cheer her up. We continued watching the television and then we heard a  “Tip,tap, tip, tap” it was the leftover rain collecting it on her wheelbarrow. She swapped it with a plastic bucket, then turned out the lights and went to bed.

On Monday we did an independence task and we had to get into our groups and we split our groups and one group went and did a rap about our holiday, while the other group made and art piece. I think we had lots of fun so here is some photos:
